Christopher Cox is chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Previously, he served in the majority leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives and was chairman of several policy committees and task forces, including the Committee on Homeland Security and the Task Force on Budget Process Reform. In addition, Dr. Cox was a leader on committees with jurisdiction over investor protection and U.S. capital markets, including the Financial Services Committee and the Government Reform Committee. He has also served as senior associate counsel to the president of the United States. Prior to his public service, Dr. Cox worked for the international law firm of Latham & Watkins and taught federal income tax at Harvard Business School. He holds a BA from the University of Southern California, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a JD from Harvard Law School.
