Carl R. Bacon, CIPM, is chairman of StatPro Group plc and runs his own consultancy business providing advice on risk and performance measurement issues. Previously, he was director of risk control and performance at Foreign & Colonial Management and vice president head of performance (Europe) for JP Morgan Investment Management. Mr. Bacon is a founding member of both the Investment Performance Council and the GIPS Committee as well as a member of both the UK Investment Performance Committee and the Advisory Board of The Journal of Performance Measurement. He is the author of Practical Performance Measurement & Attribution and editor of Advanced Portfolio Attribution Analysis. Mr. Bacon holds a BSc in mathematics from Manchester University.
Brian Chapman is a director of the
U.K. financial risk management practice at KPMG. Previously, he was
head of performance for an international asset management company. Mr.
Chapman has had an active role in the development of the GIPS standards
and was responsible for one of the first AIMR-PPS compliance projects
in the United Kingdom. He has been directly involved in verification
projects in 28 countries, including the first verifications in China
and Dubai, and is currently a member of the Verification/Practitioner
Subcommittee of the GIPS Executive Committee and a member of the U.K.
Investment Performance Committee (the GIPS Country Sponsor of the
United Kingdom). He holds a BSc in astrophysics from London University.
