Elroy Dimson is BGI Professor of Investment Management at London Business School. He has held visiting positions at the Bank of England and at the Universities of Chicago, California (Berkeley), Hawaii, and Geneva. Professor Dimson’s research covers risk analysis, performance measurement, asset allocation, portfolio strategy, and financial history. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the Financial Economists Roundtable, a past president of the European Finance Association, and an honorary fellow of the Institute of Actuaries. Professor Dimson is co-author of the book Triumph of the Optimists and co-author of the Research Foundation of AIMR (predecessor organization to CFA Institute) monograph The Closed-End Fund Discount. Additionally, he was jointly responsible for designing the FTSE 100 Share Index.
