Richard T. de Belder is a partner in Denton Wilde Sapte LLP. Previously, he was the managing partner of the company’s Abu Dhabi office. Mr. de Belder, having lived and worked for twenty years in the Middle East (the UAE and Oman), leads the coordination of the firm's Islamic finance practice. He has extensive experience advising banks, including Islamic financial institutions, and borrowers in a wide range of banking and financial transactions in the Middle East, the U.K. and the U.S., as well as capital market transactions in the Middle East. He has worked for many years with leading Shari'ah scholars and has been actively involved in the structuring and documentation of many leading Shari'ah-compliant transactions. Mr. de Belder holds degrees in business studies and law from Bradford University.
